Curated by Mar Gimeno Lumbiarres

Anita Gispert Vila was Catalonia’s first registered woman documentary photographer, capturing the essence of early 20th-century society in Caldes de Montbui (Catalonia, Spain). From portraits to local festivities, construction sites, and everyday life, her work preserved the town’s stories and hidden moments for generations to come.

Museum THERMALIA wanted to take Anita’s legacy beyond the gallery walls, bringing her vision back to the streets of Caldes de Montbui’s historic Old Town.

The XR route invites visitors to rediscover the town and its hidden memories from the 1920s through Anita’s lens. This permanent route immerses visitors in the Old Town’s history, offering a unique glimpse into its past.

Visitors can follow the route using QR codes placed at key locations. By scanning a code with their smartphone, they can view Anita’s historic photographs and read stories about the people and events she captured — connecting past and present in an interactive experience.

As they stroll along the same streets Anita once photographed, visitors can experience Caldes and its people as they were a century ago — like stepping into a living window in time.
