«OO» Immersive experience.
Secret spot around Catalunya, 2017
Starring:
Ferran Devesa
Julia Genís
In a post-apocalyptic world,
in a natural and timeless space, the human being experiences a regression to its origins, turning into an animal beast.
OO VIDEO EXPERIENCE
Use your headphones for a deeper experience.
OO
A man and a woman have started a new life in the bowels of the forest, following a primitive impulse that urged them to flee into Mother Nature.
With the arrival of darkness,
both characters start suffering a transformation.
Woman and man lose any vestige of civilization and Humanity, immersing themselves into the world of vermin.
By the end, becoming a one more beast.

CONCEPT
‘OO is all about the new origin of the human being.’ A rebirth through a regression to the bowels.
We release the instinctive animal beast that we carry prisoner within ourselves.
This is more of a metaphorical than a physical transformation, in which the human being will go from walking erect to crawling, adopting the wild behaviors of an animal beast.
The being that remains at the end of this mutation refers to the wild lost children.
The humans who Humanity abandoned and Mother Nature took care of.
Despite having a human physical condition, these humans have left behind all vestiges of civilization as they have been raised by animals.
The eternal condemnation of carrying a prisoner beast in our human carcass.
A «monster» that, in times of need, tears the guts to come out and return to life.
‘A transformation that could refer to the lycanthrope syndrome.’
A universal need to release and that connects with the bed of the human instinct.
«OO» is a regression to purity and a chance for freedom.
MAKING OF
OO is a photographic shooting taken by a film crew. Starred by real actors with large capsules of impro acts.
Taking advantage of my background in the cinematographic industry, we shot on a live nature set and based our work on a pre-conceptualized storyboard script. The outcome, instead of video, would be static images (film stills).
This methodology allowed me to completely immerse myself in the performance, directing the actors and moving between them.
Recreating and live documenting my own set creations, starting from a clear conceptualization of the idea of the project with its due shooting plan based in a natural location.
On the other hand, I would also capture «new images» that emerged from the impro of the actors and their immersion into the narrativity.
Weeks after the events, we came back to the natural scenario, with the aim of documenting some extra nature scene shots.
I was particularly interested in capturing the restless essence that some remote places have; as if «something» could be about to happen in a matter of seconds, or had already happened in a remote time.
OO’s shooting was inspired by the filmmaker and photography artwork of Gregory Crewdson.

1 YEAR AFTER
A year after shooting OO, we came back to the natural scenario.
Our purpose was the research of natural elements around the location that could be used at the exhibition panel we were creating for Galería Mutuo (Barcelona).
Returning to the scene of the events after so long is an experience I will never forget.
OO EXHIBITION
In 2018, an exhibition panel based on the «OO» experience was showcased at the collective exhibition ‘Six of a Mind’.
