OPEN MONUMENTENDAG is a nationwide celebration of architectural heritage across the Netherlands. For one weekend, thousands of monuments open their doors to the public, inviting visitors to step inside buildings that are often closed year-round.
Built to Last (Gebouw(d) om te blijven) was the national theme of Open Monumentendag 2025, highlighting buildings that endure through change — structures that evolve, adapt and remain relevant across generations.
KATOENHUIS
KATOENHUIS is a former cotton warehouse from 1950 in Rotterdam’s M4H Makers District.
Today, it operates as a hub for immersive experiences (IX), art and technology. Artists, designers and studios develop and present their work here through exhibitions, events and festivals. The building connects heritage with innovation, offering space for research and experimentation while contributing to the growth of the immersive sector in the Netherlands. An initiative by CC Collective (Concrete Culture).
